Morsels of Wisdom

on The Art of Canine and Human Relations
as they should be.

– THE TOP 10 –

  1. (1) When puppies are teething - give them "crushed ice" in a bowl to sooth their gums - as they get bigger and are no longer teething, change it to "ice cubes" - it will keep them cool and refreshed.

  1. (2) Make sure your puppy has plenty of his own toys to play with - offer a new toy every day! This will decrease the chance of them chewing on your favorite things!

  2. (3) Never "cage" your dog while you are away from home. Train your dog instead and take the time to play with him/her. Give your dog plenty of exercise. Besides, we all know that cages are for cats!

  1. (4) Riding in the car can be an exciting event. However, ensure that your dog is never left in a car without ventilation or water. Otherwise, don't leave them in the car!

  2. (5) Take your dog on vacation with your family! They are family too! Don't leave them at the kennel - that crowd changes daily!

  3. (6) If there is room in your current family, adopt a dog!

  4. (7) Dogs shouldn't be given as presents, or to children under the age of 5!

  5. (8) Never name your dog after a living relative!

  6. (9) Invisible fencing in the yard is a form of neglect, take time to properly train your dog and enjoy your yard with your dog!
  7. (10) Support your local ASPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) - they really do a great job! If you see a dog in trouble, call your local ASPCA immediately!

THIS IS SOME GOOD ADVICE!

If a dog was the teacher you would learn stuff like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind
in your face to be
pure ecstasy.

Let others know when they've
invaded your territory.

Take naps. Stretch before rising.
Run, romp and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

enc

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

e.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

No matter how often you're scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout...run right back and make friends.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk. Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.

Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not. If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it. When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
